Trainees from Psychiatry, Clinical Psychology and Psychiatric Social work who are posted in unit IV (PG students- MD & DPM trainees) attend the Perinatal Psychiatry Outpatient every Friday and are also posted for one month in the Inpatient Mother Baby ward. 

During their Posting they are trained under the supervision of consultants in

  • Clinical Assessment of Perinatal Psychiatric syndromes
  • Pre Pregnancy Counselling for women with pre existing psychiatric problems and those with a past history of postpartum psychosis
  • Risk Assessment for infant harm and self harm
  • Mother Infant bonding assessments and interventions
  • Use of Psychotropic Medication in the perinatal period
  • Infant Assessment
  • Regular workshops & training programs  are held to provide education and awareness  about Perinatal Psychiatry. Professionals who can benefit include doctors, nurses, mental health professionals, pediatricians and obstetricians. Please contact us for arranging a  training program.
